Doula Services

Did you know that doula support services are a Medi-Cal benefit covered at no cost? Doulas can provide support to make the birth and postpartum experiences better.

What are doula services?
Doula services are non-medical support services provided by trained professionals to pregnant persons before, during and after childbirth, including support during miscarriage, stillbirth and abortion. These services may include emotional support, physical comfort measures, and help with communication and decision-making.

Who is eligible for doula services under Medi-Cal?
Pregnant persons or persons who delivered a baby in the last 12 months and are enrolled in Medi-Cal through CalOptima Health.

How can a CalOptima Health member request doula services?
Please contact your provider to request doula support services. You can then contact your health network to find a doula provider.

How can a CalOptima Health member find a doula?
Please call the customer service phone number on the back of your health network card to find enrolled doulas.
