Hunn brings decades of health care industry experience to new role

ORANGE, Calif. (November 5, 2021)

The CalOptima Board of Directors appointed Michael Hunn as Interim Chief Executive Officer of the public agency. Effective November 8, Hunn replaces Richard Sanchez, who has served as an interim and permanent CEO of CalOptima since April 2020.

“I look forward to upholding CalOptima’s mission of providing access to quality health care for Orange County residents,” Hunn said. “The opportunity to serve as Interim CEO reflects my personal and professional passion for improving the human experience and delivering health care services for diverse and under-resourced communities.”

“The Board is excited to welcome Michael to the CalOptima family,” said Supervisor Andrew Do, Chair of the CalOptima Board of Directors and Chairman of the Orange County Board of Supervisors. “Michael’s deep expertise in policy development, reputation for operational efficiency and track record of effective leadership will help CalOptima implement future initiatives and strategies that will improve members’ health outcomes. The Board is confident in Michael’s ability to lead while we conduct a national search for a permanent CEO.”

Hunn holds a M.A. from Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in Systematic Theology with a concentration in Morals, and a B.A. from Cardinal Glennon College with a major in Philosophy and a minor in American History.
