As Chief Health Equity Officer, Michaell Silva Rose, DrPH, LCSW, has input on and oversight of CalOptima Health’s key equity initiatives, benefits, policies and procedures, seeking to better identify and address health inequities and social determinants of health for members. Dr. Rose is a bilingual (Spanish) and culturally competent leader with public health and mental health expertise. She has more than 25 years of leadership experience in advocacy, strategic direction, program development, and promotion of equity and improved health outcomes for vulnerable populations. Most recently, Dr. Rose served as Director of Community Health at Hoag Health System where she worked in various community health leadership roles since 1998. She is active on several boards and community advisory committees, including Be Well OC’s Community Suicide Prevention Initiative, Families and Communities Together’s leadership council, and Equity in OC’s Community Health Improvement Leadership Academy. Dr. Rose earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a Master of Social Work from California State University, Long Beach, and a Doctor of Public Health from Loma Linda University School of Public Health.
