Supervisor Vicente Sarmiento was elected to the Orange County Board of Supervisors in November 2022. He represents the Second District, which includes Santa Ana and portions of Garden Grove, Tustin, Orange and Anaheim. Previously, he served the Santa Ana community as a Councilmember from 2008–2020 and as Mayor from 2020–2022. Currently, he is a director for the Orange County Transportation Authority. Prior to this, Sarmiento was a board member for the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies at George Washington University. In addition, he was one of 14 leaders selected from across the country to join NewDEAL, a national network highlighting innovative ideas from state and local elected leaders. Supervisor Sarmiento holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from UC Berkeley and a Juris Doctorate from the UCLA School of Law. He attended the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and successfully completed the Certificate Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government. He is married and has three children with his wife, Eva. Supervisor Sarmiento was appointed a CalOptima Health director in February 2023.
