Richard Sanchez

Richard Sanchez, REHS, MPH, is the Director of the Orange County Health Care Agency. Prior to his appointment in March 2017, Sanchez served as the agency’s Assistant Director and Director of Environmental Health. Under his leadership in Environmental Health, the division was a two-time recipient of the Orange County Business Council’s Turning Red Tape Into Red Carpet Award, an honor given to recognize collaborative work between businesses and cities that promotes economic growth while protecting the public. Before his tenure in Orange County, Sanchez served as Director of Environmental Health for the Sacramento Environmental Health Department and as a Program Manager for the San Bernardino Environmental Health Department. He holds a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from the University of California, Irvine and a Master of Public Health degree from Loma Linda University. Sanchez was appointed a CalOptima director in March 2017.
