CalOptima Welcomes New Board

Directors Attend First Meeting to Address a Range of Medical, Operational Issues

ORANGE, Calif. (August 6, 2020)

Today, six new directors of the CalOptima Board took the oath of office during a virtual meeting, committing to guide the agency through the challenges of the current pandemic and well beyond. Appointed by the Orange County Board of Supervisors, the directors serve a term until August 3, 2024. Filling designated seats that reflect CalOptima’s broad constituency, the new Board members are:

  • Isabel Becerra, CEO of the Coalition of Orange County Community Health Centers, filling the seat for a community clinic representative
  • Jackie Brodsky, RN, a retired health care provider, filling the seat for a CalOptima member or family member of a member
  • Clayton M. Corwin, president of StoneCreek Company, a commercial real estate firm, filling the seat for a legal resident of Orange County
  • Mary Giammona, M.D., MPH, a pediatrician and medical director at Molina Healthcare, filling the seat for a licensed physician in current practice who represents a contracted health network
  • Victor Jordan, chief operating officer and health network executive of Providence Southern California, filling the seat for a current or former hospital administrator
  • Trieu Tran, M.D., an orthopedic surgeon, filling the seat for a licensed medical provider in current practice but not affiliated with a contracted health network

Some of the actions taken today involved Medi-Cal contracts, medical and pharmacy policies and procedures, and the Board advisory committees. The meeting agenda and materials are here.  

The new directors were joined by reappointed Board member J. Scott Schoeffel, a health care attorney, as well as Board of Supervisors Chair Michelle Steel, Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Andrew Do and Clayton Chau, M.D., director of the Orange County Health Care Agency.
