ADULT MENTAL HEALTH

1. Expand Access to Mental Health Services for Adults and Provide Outreach to Promote Awareness of Services

Grants must be used for programs that expand/increase direct mental health services to CalOptima members ages 19–64 (adult) by increasing the number of staff, extending hours/days of operation and/or providing additional services. For example, programs may include services to help an individual avoid psychiatric hospitalization, de-escalation of crisis situations and/or provide additional evening/weekend hours. Programs must include outreach and education to promote awareness of and connect CalOptima members to the services being provided. Funds are for non-Medi-Cal contracted services and may not be used as reimbursement for Medi-Cal covered services.

2. Expand Mental Health and Socialization Services for Older Adults

Grants must be used for programs that expand/increase direct mental health services to CalOptima members ages 65+ (older adults) by increasing the number of staff, extending hours/days of operation and/or providing additional services. For example, programs may include healthy social activities such as support groups, educational trainings, etc. to reduce social isolation, depression and loneliness, among older adults, and increase involvement in the community and/or provide additional evening/weekend hours. Programs must include outreach and education to promote awareness of and connect CalOptima members to the services being provided. Funds are for non-Medi-Cal contracted services and may not be used as reimbursement for Medi-Cal covered services.
